Back To Work Supports - Back To Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA)

BTWEA is designed to encourage those on certain social welfare payment to become self employed. You must be starting a new business approved by a DSP Case Officer and a Local Development Company. A DSP Case Officer may refer you to a Local Enterprise Officer or Local Development Company.

You retain your social welfare payment but it is reduced over 2 years - 100% is retained in the first year and 75% in the second year.

You must have an approved business plan.

If you are getting Rent Supplement, it will be reviewed if earnings go up

You may be able to access an Enterprise Support Grant for your business.
